IU Health is IU School of Medicine's primary clinical partner. IU Health is the state's largest and most comprehensive health care system with 16 hospitals across Indiana, including IU Health Methodist and University hospitals and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, all of which are co-located with IU School of Medicine in downtown Indianapolis. This unique partnership enables IU School of Medicine's faculty physicians to seamlessly integrate research findings into patient care and to offer promising clinical research studies to patients close to home.
Indiana University School of Medicine physicians are members of IU Health Physicians, a multi-disciplinary group practice that is led and managed by IU School of Medicine faculty. The school has moved more than 65 independent physician groups into the group practice to improve delivery of care and strengthen the alignment of clinical, education and research missions. As a result, more Hoosiers have access to advanced care and the most promising therapies in the form of clinical research studies.
Partnering with the Indiana University School of Medicine, Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center is the flagship medical center for Veteran Health Indiana, the VA's healthcare system in central and southern Indiana. The health system has been serving Hoosier Veterans since 1932. As Indiana's Level 1a, tertiary care Veteran facility, the medical center serves as home base for a system of inpatient and outpatient care locations serving more than 62,000 Veterans, including 5,000 women, who utilize 736,000 outpatient appointments each year and 7,000 inpatient care episodes each year.
