Writing high-quality multiple choice items for exams can be a challenging task for many faculty members. In this session presented by experts from the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), participants will explore a number of different question types, including one-best-answer and extended matching items.

This session will include applicable information, whether writing questions for testing of basic science and/or clinical science content. Using a mix of presentation, discussion, and practical application, participants will:

· Discuss general guidelines and basic rules for question construction
· Consider common question flaws and strategies to address these
· Practice constructing quality test questions for both recall and application of knowledge

Each participant will receive a copy of the manual 'Constructing Written Test Questions for the Basic and Clinical Sciences,' which is published by the NBME. A video bridge connection will be available for those who cannot attend in person.
