About Tara

Tara Hobson leads inclusive professional and career development and mentoring initiatives to support faculty, academic staff, administrators, and learners. She is a certified facilitator for the National Research Mentoring Network/Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research, the NIH Resilient Scientist Training Program, and the NIH-funded Emerging Scientists Program. Tara seeks to enhance faculty mentorship, scientific training, and professional development planning with a scholarly interest in career adaptability and retention.

 

Tara was named a 2019 recipient of the Deb Cowley Staff Leadership Award for her faculty development and support contributions. She is a 2017 alumna of the HERS Leadership Program for Women in Higher Education and a 2017 Luce Foundation Fellow. Other honors include 2015 Outstanding Woman Staff Leader, the IUSM Hard Wired Award for Achievement, and the Mentor of the Year Award.

 

Tara completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sociology at Indiana University and is a doctoral candidate in Higher Education Leadership at Indiana State University. Outside of academia, Tara volunteers with the local K-12 school system, engages in the Peloton community, and enjoys spending time with her sons.
