As part of the Sloan/ACE Award for Faculty Career Flexibility, IUSM partnered with the Herron School of Art and Design to create a portal that contains information for faculty work-life demands. Women have achieved significant accomplishments in medicine and science, yet comprise a relatively small proportion of faculty, especially at the highest ranks and positions of leadership. As a result, women faculty tend to have smaller professional networks than male colleagues and have fewer role models of success. The Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership series is intended to create a forum where all faculty and students can learn about professional development through hearing the personal career journeys of successful women. Please join us in honoring the career of the 2015 Steven C. Beering Award winner, Laurie H. Glimcher, M.D.

Scientists and physicians today are required to connect to and tailor their communication for a variety of audiences, in terms non-scientists can understand. This workshop borrows techniques from improvisational theater and communication studies to help participants speak more spontaneously, responsively, and directly. Participants will practice finding common ground with an audience, speaking at different levels of complexity for different audiences, and answering questions about their work.
