7 Sane and Sensible Email Practices

Tuesday, March 19 | 5:00 - 7:00 PM | Fairbanks Hall (FS) 5005

Many faculty find that they – and those around them – are often controlled by email instead of exerting control over it.  In this fun and interactive session, Dr. Meggin McIntosh, the “PhD of Productivity,” will offer strategies to decrease the amount of time you spend on email by at least 50%.  By focusing on tangible behaviors, participants will leave the workshop with seven things they can do immediately to make email easier to manage.

Promotion & Tenure Information Sessions

OFAPD is partnering with the Office of Academic Administration to offer five workshops designed to help faculty members successfully prepare for the promotion and tenure process. Attendees will learn important tips to develop a dossier that effectively communicates the extent of their work in their chosen area of excellence. Ample time will be devoted to Q&A.

Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership

This leadership series is intended to create a forum where all faculty can learn about professional development through hearing the personal career journeys of successful women. During our April event, we’ll honor IUSM Dean Craig Brater. During his tenure, the number of women tenured faculty has increased by 41%.

Academy of Teaching Scholars Events

The Indiana University School of Medicine Academy of Teaching Scholars has been developed to advance the stature, quality, and innovation of teaching throughout the institution. The program is open to any faculty member interested in improving their teaching skills. 

Discovering the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL)

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) has been defined as “systematic reflection on teaching and learning made public.” This workshop will focus on the variety of venues available to faculty wishing to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning, including journals, professional organizations, and conferences devoted to SoTL concerns.

Encourage Learners to Submit an Abstract for IUPUI Research Day

The IUPUI Center for Research and Learning is now accepting poster abstracts for IUPUI Research Day 2013.  The event is an opportunity for students, residents, and fellows working under the mentorship of IU and IUPUI faculty to showcase their scholarly and creative research accomplishments.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 1.
