Each year the Indiana University Board of Trustees recognizes faculty excellence in teaching through a program known as the Trustee Teaching Awards. Excellence in teaching is the primary factor for selection. We anticipate that approximately 50 outstanding IUSM teachers will receive the award this year.

As we continue our efforts to advance IUSM's commitment to diversity, members of the Office of Diversity Affairs (ODA) team have developed a series of presentations and workshops focused on increasing cultural competence and awareness of issues about diversity. Workshops on topics such as multicultural competence, microaggressions, unconscious bias, understanding diversity at IUSM and others can be scheduled as part of staff meetings, retreats, etc. Please contact the ODA office if you have any questions or would like to schedule a presentation.

Women have achieved significant accomplishments in medicine and science, yet comprise a relatively small proportion of faculty, especially at the highest ranks and positions of leadership. As a result, women faculty tend to have smaller professional networks than male colleagues and have fewer role models of success.

The Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership series is intended to create a forum where all faculty and students can learn about professional development through hearing the personal career journeys of successful women. Please join us in honoring the career of Dr. Patricia Treadwell.

Each year, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development partners with the Office of Academic Administration and the school's Promotion & Tenure committee to offer a series of information sessions on the promotion and tenure process. This session will provide a broad overview of the process, including information about how to prepare your dossier.
