The IUSM Regatta BBQ is a family-friendly event offering an opportunity for IUSM faculty, staff and learners to meet, greet and kick off the school year. The Regatta consists of a half-mile canoe relay competition involving teams of up to eight students, faculty, staff and alumni. Attendees are strongly encouraged to RSVP.

Learn more about the many forces that can shape the campus climate both positively and negatively. After watching a performance from The University of Michigan Center for Research on Learning and Teaching Theatre Program, facilitators will lead a discussion on the impact of an ‘isolated’ bias incident on targeted learners, how to listen to others’ stories about negative experiences and share strategies for responding to concerns.

During Research Week, get concrete advice from Jean-luc Doumont, PhD to start or advance your career in research. One lecture will help you structure research papers that effectively grab the reader’s attention. The second event will guide you through a systematic approach to networking, with readily applicable tips and concrete advice.

Back by popular demand! This three-session series is designed to train participants to communicate complex scientific topics more effectively to non-experts like patients, learners, lawmakers and funders. This program is free and open to all IUSM and IUPUI faculty and graduate students. Please note, if you register for this event, you will be registered for all three sessions.



View a screening of the documentary “Suited," a film exploring gender identity and expression. This screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Daniel Freidman, the featured tailor in the film.

Professor of Surgery Alan Ladd, MD and Professor of Clinical Medicine Sara Grethlein, MD are the recipients of the Evans Fellowship for Healthcare Leadership. The Evans Fellowship is a unique opportunity for experienced and senior faculty members to develop the skills required to lead and manage in today’s academic health center environment. Upon completion, fellows will have earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the IU Kelley Business of Medicine program.
