Tait Shanafelt, M.D. will provide a critical review the literature on physician satisfaction and burnout, and highlight personal and organizational approaches to promote physician well-being.
Creating a Professional Toolkit for Resilience and Wellbeing: An Experiential Session
Hedy Wald, Ph.D. will discuss resilience and wellbeing-enhancement strategies including mindful awareness, reflective writing as a 'resiliency workout,' cognitive restructuring, positive psychology principles, and meaning-making/purpose.

The IUSM Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) symposium provides a collegial and professional environment for faculty, residents and fellows, students, and staff to discuss career advancement, particularly issues of interest to women. This year’s speaker is Reshma Jagsi, M.D., D.Phil. Dr. Jagsi will speak about navigating power differentials, sexism, and gender inequity in academic medicine.

These awards of up to $3,000 provide a way to communicate and reward the behaviors, achievements, and outcomes most important to IUSM. Back by popular demand! This three-session series is designed to train participants to communicate complex scientific topics more effectively to non-experts like patients, learners, lawmakers, and funders. This program is free and open to all IUSM and IUPUI faculty and graduate students. Please note, if you register for this event, you will be registered for all three sessions.



This seminar addresses both conceptual and practical aspects of the grant writing process. Emphasis is given to idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies. All participants will receive light breakfast, boxed lunch, and a copy of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook
