What's the right information for your research or conference poster? How can a design a poster to convey your message?

Although widely used in research to analyze and communicate data, research posters are often poorly mastered by researchers. Based on Dr. Jean-luc Doumont's popular book, Trees, Maps, and Theorems, this workshop will provide attendees the skills needed to:

• Select the appropriate text and images for the poster
• Optimize a poster's layout to reveal a study's outcomes

Most research posters at conferences or in university hallways seem to defy common sense: from two steps away, passerby can't read anythingassuming they even get past the overcrowded layout. Posters are not magnifed one-page papers. This lecture will discuss how to create more visual posters that get attention, facilitate navigation, and convey messages through strict selection, careful phrasing, and effective layout.

This interactive lecture will include ample time for attendees to discuss research posters both with Dr. Doumont and fellow faculty. This event is part of the Faculty Enrichment and Education Development (FEED) series, which includes workshops on key topics in faculty development. It provides an opportunity for faculty to learn in a collegial environment. Dinner will be served from 5:15pm-5:30pm. The presentation will begin promptly at 5:30pm.
