IUSM Community Faculty

Partners in preparing tomorrow’s physicians

Preparing the next generation of physician leaders is an important priority for IU School of Medicine. We focus on providing our students with knowledge and firsthand clinical experiences to meet the demands of an evolving health care environment. This requires the strong mentorship of committed community faculty members—local physicians working in a variety of specialties and settings—who generously contribute their time, skills, and expertise in support of students and, ultimately, the health of our state.

Our school has a strong tradition of community faculty mentorship with more than 3,000 Indiana physicians participating in support of our mission. The number of volunteer faculty appointments has increased steadily in recent years, and this growth is expected to continue due to expansion of clinical training sites across Indiana. To meet demand and fulfill our academic mission, IU School of Medicine is continually looking for physicians across Indiana to join our community faculty program.
