Welcome to the Office of Advancement of Women
The IUSM must recruit, retain, and advance the best faculty to achieve its strategic goals and to accomplish our tripartite mission. All faculty talent must be maximized and the culture must enable all faculty to reach their full potential. The stakes are too high for any portion of the talent pool to be under-utilized. Women, however, remain under-represented both at the IUSM and nationally among the faculty, particularly among senior leadership. A core emphasis of the OFAPD is to advance women in medicine and science, in order to advance the IUSM itself. To read more about why pursuing gender equity is important, click here.
Our mission is to:
- Improve the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women faculty and students
- Provide women faculty and medical students with support for personal and professional development
- Promote an equitable, inclusive culture in which all faculty and students can thrive
