Aesculapian Medical Society Bi-annual Meetings:  The Division of Diversity Affairs sponsors two meetings of the Asculapian Medical Society in the fall and spring of each year.  The Aesculapian Society is the local chapter of the National Medical Association.

Hall of Diversity Champions:  The DDA is creating a “Hall of Diversity Champions.”  The Wall recognizes those individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the cause of diversity.  A small plaque with the name of the individual and the appropriate inscription relative to his/her contribution to diversity is placed on a wall in a prominent location in IUSM.

Cultural Competency Grand Rounds:  This program is designed to focus on the need for cultural competency in the care and treatment of patients from culturally diverse backgrounds.  This initiative utilizes the format of conducting quarterly grand rounds by physicians from the various clinical departments stressing the importance of cultural competency in dealing with a diverse patient population.

Compact for Diversity:  The Compact for Diversity Initiative is a leadership development conference whereby IUSM sponsors a basic science faculty member and a Ph.D. candidate to attend the Annual Compact for Diversity Conference.  This conference provides the faculty member and the Ph.D. candidate an opportunity to network with other basic science faculty and Ph.D. candidates from all over the country.

Support for Underrepresented Faculty (SRUF):  SRUF is designed to encourage and assist schools and departments at IUPUI in the hiring of underrepresented tenure/tenure-track faculty. The aim is to build a more diverse faculty, enrich the intellectual environment, and provide role models for our students.

Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program:  Funded through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  This initiative, formerly known as the Minority Medical Faculty Development Program, was created to increase the number of faculty from historically disadvantaged backgrounds who can achieve senior rank in academic medicine and who will encourage and foster the development of succeeding classes of such physicians. Four-year postdoctoral research awards are offered to historically disadvantaged physicians who are committed to developing careers in academic medicine and to serving as role models for students and faculty of similar background.

Leadership Training:  The Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP) is a monthly series of workshops for a selected cohort of new faculty, which introduces the fundamentals of career planning, self-management and leadership skills.
