In this online session, Jennifer Westerhaus Adams, JD, IU’s Associate General Counsel, will provide brief background on the laws that govern these issues and answer specific questions for faculty.

This lecture will provide practical information for physicians working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) patients. Topics discussed will include terminology and definitions, obtaining necessary and pertinent health information, and other unique health considerations. Educational research is clear: engaging students in active learning leads to improved leaning outcomes over 'continuous exposition by the instructor.' But what is active learning? Why does it work? This keynote will explore teaching strategies, learning principles, and digital technologies for creating active learning environments - and inviting all our students into deeper learning.
