IU School of Medicine prides itself on its ability to be a part of the surrounding communities and make a difference in the lives of people across the city, state and the world. A group of faculty and staff recently took a closer look at service learning and how we can create a foundation for learning through service as part of the curriculum. At the next Faculty Enrichment Education Development (FEED) workshop, attendees will develop a new way to think about time management based on a better understanding of their current investment of professional effort and how to 'stop' activities that are not well aligned with individual success.

The School of Medicine is seeking volunteer instructors to facilitate a technique-focused, procedural skills training day to educate all 340+ incoming 3rd year medical students. Volunteer instructors are needed June 9th, at the Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall to teach peripheral IV access, airway management, arterial puncture, and Foley catheter insertion. The preferred time commitment is at least a four hour block either in the morning or the afternoon. If you are interested in participating in this event please email Rhonda Kelly at rhkelly@iu.edu

Dr. Gopen's approach is based on a single idea: learning to write for the reader allows the writer to control what readers learn. Advanced workshop participants MUST attend the introduction workshop or have attended one in the years prior. Limited individualized consultations will be available for participants.

This seminar comprehensively addresses both conceptual and practical aspects associated with the grant writing process. Idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers will be explored.
