Designed to inspire, inform and give faculty the confidence to try new teaching strategies, each interactive webinar features a conversation with a faculty member about how they implemented a successful teaching technique. Faculty from wide variety of schools and departments and with all appointment types will be featured in this series.

The Interprofessional Practice and Education Conference brings professionals from multiple disciplines to share and present efforts in interprofessional practice and/or education. Educators, clinicians and students are invited to submit abstracts for workshops, podium, panel, and poster presentations. All abstracts should relate to work currently being conducted or recently completed in Indiana.

What laws govern university faculty and copyright in teaching settings? What images are appropriate for use in your lectures? How can you share materials with your learners appropriately on Canvas? In this online session, Jennifer Westerhaus Adams, JD, IU’s Associate General Counsel, will provide brief background on the laws that govern these issues and answer specific questions for faculty.

Creating an environment conducive to learning is the responsibility of all faculty members at IUSM. Unfortunately, our students report mistreatment at higher levels than many other medical schools in the US. In this interactive, online session, participants will learn how they can help us to mitigate this issue. Using video case studies, attendees will explore definitions of student mistreatment, discuss strategies for holding students accountable in a supportive manner, and identify important connections between learner mistreatment and patient safety.

Women have achieved significant accomplishments in medicine and science, yet comprise a relatively small proportion of faculty, especially at the highest ranks and positions of leadership. As a result, women faculty tend to have a smaller professional networks than male colleagues and have fewer role models of success. The Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership series creates a space where all faculty and students can learn about professional development through hearing the personal career journeys of successful women.
