The Interprofessional Practice and Education Conference brings professionals from multiple disciplines to share and present efforts in interprofessional practice and/or education. Educators, clinicians and students are invited to submit abstracts for workshops, podium, panel, and poster presentations. All abstracts should relate to work currently being conducted or recently completed in Indiana.

OFAPD is now soliciting nominations for the 2017-2018 Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP). LAMP is a cohort-based, yearlong faculty development and orientation program designed for faculty in the 2nd and 3rd years of their appointment.

To be nominated, a brief statement of support is needed from your chair or division director no later than July 12th. After being nominated, you will need to submit a one-page document describing your career goals including what you most want to accomplish in the next three years. Final applications are due Friday, July 29th.

This seminar comprehensively addresses both conceptual and practical aspects that are associated with the grant writing process. Emphasis is given to idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers. All participants will receive light breakfast, boxed lunch, and a copy of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook.

The IUSM Regatta BBQ is a family-friendly event offering an opportunity for IUSM faculty, staff, and learners to meet, greet, and kick off the school year. The Regatta consists of a half-mile canoe relay competition involving teams of up to eight students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Attendees are strongly encourage to RSVP.

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development is excited to announce two changes to our team.

Megan Palmer, PhD has been promoted to Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. Since 2008, Dr. Palmer has served as an Assistant Dean in OFAPD. In this new role, Dr. Palmer will provide leadership for faculty development programs and initiatives throughout the IU School of Medicine system. Dr. Palmer will continue her work in the Department of Emergency Medicine, as Vice Chair for Education and Faculty Development and Associate Professor.

Matt Allen, PhD will be joining OFAPD as an Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. Dr. Allen’s efforts will focus on programs to foster the satisfaction, retention, and success of research-oriented faculty. Dr. Allen serves as an Associate Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology.

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development is looking for IUSM faculty to join OFAPD! We are seeking an Assistant Dean of Diversity Affairs (.25 FTE) and an Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (.20 FTE).
