Dr. Gopen's approach is based on a single idea: learning to write for the reader allows the writer to control what readers learn. Idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers will be explored.

Strong presentation skills are key to success for doctors, scientists, and others, yet many speakers find this difficult. While systematic in other areas of work, presenters may approach speaking intuitively, and sometimes haphazardly, with good intentions, but less than ideal results.
