Faculty Development News

In this role, Shawn helps to oversee faculty development programs offered by OFAPD, as well as school-wide faculty reports and policy initiatives. Shawn began at IUPUI in 2013 as the Student Advocate. Shawn's previous experience also includes working for the Office of International Affairs. Prior to joining Indiana University, Shawn worked at the University of Hawaii Manoa.

Women have achieved significant accomplishments in medicine and science, yet comprise a relatively small proportion of faculty, especially at the highest ranks and positions of leadership. As a result, women faculty tend to have smaller professional networks than male colleagues and have fewer role models of success.

The Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership series is intended to create a forum where all faculty and students can learn about professional development through hearing the personal career journeys of successful women. The next forum in the Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership series features the career journey of Dr. Karen West.
