The Leadership 360° Survey

Every three years, IUSM conducts a leadership assessment by having current leadership provide a self-assessment which is then examined alongside the aggregate of survey responses from their own leaders, their peers, and the faculty who directly report to them. The 2018 administration includes IUSM executive leaders, department chairs, regional center directors, and selected leaders from larger divisions and research centers. The survey items are grouped into six competency areas:

  • Leadership and team development
  • Performance and talent management
  • Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and personal attributes
  • Vision and strategic planning
  • Communication skills
  • Commitment to the tripartite mission

As a complement to the Faculty Vitality Survey©, the Leadership 360° Survey provides our academic leadership with an opportunity to better understand how their role contributes to the culture, climate, and success of their unit, over time and in relation to their colleagues.
